SUMMARY:‘Breaking bad’: transforming food systems away from undesirable resilience
DESCRIPTION:With a Super El Niño on the horizon and geopolitical tensions fueling protectionist responses\, the world faces a heightened risk of global food emergency in the years ahead. Accelerating food systems transformations towards more sustainable\, healthy and equitable food systems is critical to navigate these interconnected challenges. But transformation is not only about building the new. It demands a deliberate process of building resilience where it is needed\, while weakening\, phasing out\, or dismantling the structures that lock food systems into unsustainable and undesirable pathways. In this session\, we will explore how transformative pathways that address these different faces of transformation can be fostered. \nSpeakers\n\nJames StapletonSenior Advisor for Advocacy\, Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT\nDr Adil NajamPresident\, WWF International\nCibele QueirozDirector of Knowledge\, Global Resilience Partnership & Senior Researcher\, Stockholm Resilience Centre\nSecretary Edel MoraesSecretariat for Traditional Peoples and Communities and Sustainable Rural Development\, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change\, Brazil\nEija HietavuoChief Corporate Affairs Officer\, Tetra Pak\nJillian SemaanGlobal Director\, Food and Environment\, EARTHDAY.ORG\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:D&C Days at COP31: a look into the future
DESCRIPTION:For over 20 years\, Development and Climate Days (D&C Days) has brought together leaders\, thinkers and innovators on locally led adaptation in frank\, honest conversations that break down barriers to identify commonalities in building climate resilience that leaves no one behind. At COP31\, we are bringing D&C Days to the Resilience Hub to critically reflect on how to bridge the disconnect between grassroots movements and formal climate negotiations at COP. Our discussions will include a critical reflection on how to position D&C Days going forward\, as we enter a new phase of transition from negotiation to action. What role can D&C Days play beyond its historical role of linking negotiations to the broader communities of practice? We will seek perspectives from our community on strategic key messaging\, partnerships and positioning for the future of D&C Days and how it can evolve to support implementation\, accountability and learning as the global climate agenda moves from negotiation to action Discussions from this in-person event at COP31 will carry forward into a post-COP webinar in February 2027 to continue the conversation and plan the road ahead to COP32. \nSpeakers\n\nPaul MitchellSenior Associate\, Climate Action and Governance\, International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED)\nMay Thazin AungSenior Researcher\, IIED’s Climate Change Research Group\, International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED)\nAditya BahadurDirector\, Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:Roof Over Our Heads (ROOH) book volume IV – creating measurements to produce scalability: learning from 71 labs globally
DESCRIPTION:Showcasing evidence of adaptation globally\, official Launch of the Roof Over Our Heads (ROOH) Volume IV. The ROOH campaign reframes informal housing as a vital resource for climate resilience rather than a problem to eliminate. Spanning 71 labs in 16 countries\, ROOH showcases how co-production enables communities to repair\, retrofit\, and rebuild against extreme weather threats. It is not testing whether the conditions can be created for communities to keep finding financing\, evaluating and improving solutions themselves.. The ROOH process shares a new normal where residents incrementally upgrade vulnerable homes through a range of solutions. This COP session highlights proven\, community-led pathways to secure climate justice and housing equity worldwide. \nSpeakers\n\nSheela PatelFounder & Director\, SPARC\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:All In at home and abroad: faith communities as subnational actors
DESCRIPTION:Faith bodies own hundreds of thousands of buildings across the United States. As congregations electrify\, install solar\, and cut energy use\, they are taking the subnational action we are calling for at COP31: practical\, local\, and already underway. Faith communities are also among the most widely distributed institutions in the world\, with networks that reach across borders\, and link local congregations to international partners in climate action. This session looks at both how communities cut emissions and how they prepare for and recover from the impacts already arriving with a focus on how the faith community is facilitating this. Speakers will include representatives from various faith communities (local & global)\, local practitioners\, and faith leaders including Bishops \nSpeakers\n\nBishop Phyllis SpiegelBishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah\nBishop Dave NaglerPacifica Synod\, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America\nSister Marvelous “Marvie” Lomerio MisolaMaryknoll Sisters\nLowell BlissChristian Climate Observers Program\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:From commitments to action: finance and partnerships for Peru’s tropical forests
DESCRIPTION:Delivering Peru’s forest-climate commitments requires more than mobilising finance: it requires connecting resources\, partnerships and national priorities with effective action in Amazonian territories. This session will showcase Peru’s country-led approach to forest finance\, highlighting its Country Package for Forests and Nature\, the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF)\, the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI)\, and Indigenous Jurisdictional REDD+. Bringing together government representatives\, Indigenous organisations and financing partners\, the discussion will explore how these complementary instruments can support territorial implementation\, address financing gaps and strengthen partnerships to deliver tangible results for forests and the people who protect them. \nSpeakers\n\nVladimiro Huaroc PortocarreroMinister of the Environment\, Peru (MINAM)\nLaura Secada DalyDirector General of Climate Change and Desertification (DGCCD)\, MINAM\nHarlem Mariño SaavedraDGCCD\, MINAM\nWillian Fernando León MoralesVice Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources\, MINAM\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts
