SUMMARY:Breaking resilience silos: Building People-Centred Comprehensive Risk Management for Scaled Early Action
DESCRIPTION:Early action is one of the core pillars of resilience. Yet global frameworks—the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\, the Paris Agreement\, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction\, among others—have yet to fully translate commitments into scalable\, cross-cutting action due to context-specific\, siloed approaches and governance bottlenecks. As climate-related impacts intensify\, fragmented early-action practices hinder scaling and sustained impact. Comprehensive Risk Management (CRM) offers a path to break silos by uniting risk reduction\, anticipatory action\, pre-arranged finance\, and pathways for managing residual losses within people-centred portfolios. \n\n\n\nThis session will demonstrate how CRM helps countries shift from isolated climate resilience and disaster risk reduction efforts to integrated\, layered risk management that prioritises the most vulnerable\, foregrounds Local\, Indigenous\, and Traditional Knowledge with national and international actors\, and shows practical ways communities are redefining “action” with links to finance\, authority\, and community agency. It will also facilitate an understanding of financial needs and explore the existing ways to access the necessary resources\, beyond traditional approaches to accessing finance that are becoming increasingly restrictive and difficult to access for certain categories of actors. \n\n\n\nCo-Hosts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nAnimesh Kumar\, Head of Office\, Bonn\, UNDRR\n\n\n\nLucy Puentes\, Director of Network & Funds\, Start Network\n\n\n\nGerard Howe\, Head of the Adaptation\, Nature and Resilience Department\, UK Foreign\, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)\n\n\n\nHugo Icu Peren\, Director\, Asociación de Servicios Comunitarios de Salud\, Guatemala (ASECSA)\n\n\n\nCatalina Jaime\, Head\, REAP Secretariat\n\n\n\nHarrison Ajebe Nnoko Ngaaje\, AJEMALEBU SELF HELP (AJESH)\, Cameroon\n\n\n\nAbraham Bugre\, Co-Director-GEnSIL\, University of Regina\n\n\n\nMarcos Concepcion Raba\, Executive Director\, GNDR\n\n\n\nJamie Cummings\, Sendai Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism & Woodwell Climate Research Centre\n\n\n\nMagdalena Medrano Velasco\, Liga de Defensa del Medio Ambiente LIDEMA\, Bolivia

SUMMARY:Resilience Science Must-Knows: A deep dive on tough questions to improve real answers
DESCRIPTION:Resilience strategies are multiplying\, but coherence is not. Too many solutions remain siloed\, fragmented\, or unfit for long-term uncertainty. The challenge now is not just to scale activity\, but to scale what enables systemic and forward looking resilience that is equitable for all: strategies that are inclusive\, adaptive\, and built for addressing complex challenges. This session asks what it would really take to shift from narrative to nuance—and from concept to capacities—using a solid evidence base synthesized by the Resilience Science Must-Knows\, launched at COP30. Specifically\, the session will deep dive in three common Myths and three of the nine Must-Knows on Resilience: 1. Resilience investments pay off; 2. Resilience is not an end goal but a continuous process and 3. Addressing power imbalances is imperative for resilience. The session will have a mix panel of scientists and implementers\, business leaders\, community leaders and multilateral organizations. Following short presentations from the report authors\, the panel discussion will explore how these insights guide governance\, decision-making\, and transformation and be translated into action. \n\n\n\nCo-Hosts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nComing soon

SUMMARY:Counting What Matters: Integrating NELD into Global Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:As climate impacts intensify across the globe\, communities in the Global South are bearing the brunt of losses that go far beyond what can be measured in financial terms. These non-economic losses and damages (NELD)—including the erosion of cultural heritage\, displacement of spiritual traditions\, loss of biodiversity\, mental health impacts\, and threats to identity and social cohesion—represent profound and often irreversible harms. This COP30 Resilience Hub event aims to provide a window of opportunity to elevate NELD on the multilateral agenda\, by providing a platform for deepening understanding\, centering community voices\, and catalysing learning and collaboration on approaches that are grounded in local realities and led by those most impacted. Through community-led insights from the Bay of Bengal\, East Africa\, and the Pacific\, the event redefines risk in more holistic and context-specific terms\, paving the way for more equitable\, just\, and effective climate responses. \n\n\n\nCo-Hosts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nComing soon

SUMMARY:Shark Tank – Building Scale\, Integrity and Alignment Across Adaptation Finance Transactions
DESCRIPTION:This session connects two critical parts of the climate finance architecture: integrity and mobilization. On one hand\, investors face growing scrutiny to demonstrate that their portfolios deliver genuine adaptation outcomes\, avoid harm\, and contribute to systemic transformation. On the other\, innovators and local actors in the Global South are building investable pipelines—yet often struggle to access and deploy capital due to fragmented standards and risk perceptions. By bringing together actors behind frameworks like the KPMG-Standard Chartered Bank-UNDRR Guide for Adaptation & Resilience Finance\, the Climate Bonds Initiative’s Resilience Taxonomy\, and capital mobilization efforts such as the Ambition Loop’s Earth Investment Engine (EIE)\, this session explores how to embed resilience integrity into financial systems and move capital where it matters most. \n\n\n\nCo-Hosts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nDavid Greenall\, Global Head of Climate Risk & Response\, KPMG International\n\n\n\nGonzalo Muñoz\, co-founder of Ambition Loop and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP25\, Chile\n\n\n\nAnuja Jaitly\, Head of Global Business Development\, Blue Marble\n\n\n\nLuca Torre\, CEO\, GAWA Capital\n\n\n\nRachel Delhaise\, Head of Sustainability\, Convex\n\n\n\nSean Kidney\, CEO and Co-Founder\, Climate Bonds Initiative\n\n\n\nCristina Rumbaitis del Rio\, Senior Advisor\, Adaptation and Resilience UN Climate Foundation\n\n\n\nAmy Campbell\, UN SG Climate Action Team\, Climate Adaptation Finance\n\n\n\nTeresa Rossi\, COP30 Presidency\, Adaptation Advisor

SUMMARY:Is philanthropy ready to catalyse climate-resilient economies?
DESCRIPTION:While global adaptation finance flows are rising\, they fall far short of what is required. Less than a tenth of climate finance is dedicated towards adaptation and even less towards vulnerable communities\, such as smallholder farmers\, risking food security\, financial stability and prosperity. Philanthropic capital can be the game‑changer where risks are deemed too high\, and markets are slow to move. It also has more flexibility and patience as opposed to other types of capital. Nevertheless\, there are many challenges to this\, that include the need for stronger collaborations among different types of actors/donors and the fact that policy-practice and science are still acting in silos\, preventing truly systemic approaches to resilience. This session aims to unpack concrete examples of philanthropic capital as a catalyst\, discuss how these solutions can be replicated and scaled and reflect on the role of science in providing evidence-based guidance to support the enabling of resilience approaches. \n\n\n\nCo-Hosts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nCibele Queiroz\, Director of Knowledge\, Researcher\, Global Resilience Partnership & Stockholm Resilience Centre\n\n\n\nMelanie Robinson\, Global Director of Climate\, Economics and Finance\, WRI\n\n\n\nMatt Eldridge\, Advisor\, Climate Finance\, Gates Foundation\n\n\n\nDr Tabea Lissner\, Director\, Climate Change\, Robert Bosch Foundation\n\n\n\nFrancis Bouchard\, Managing Director Climate\, Marsh McLennan\n\n\n\nWendy Broadgate\, Global Hub Director (Sweden)\, Future Earth\n\n\n\nPaula Leandro-Quitas\, Vice President Collective Intelligence & Flagships\, BMW Foundation\n\n\n\nJorge Gastelumendi\, Senior Director\, Atlantic Council Climate Resilience Center\n\n\n\nAlice de Moraes Amorim Vogas\, Program Director of the COP30 Presidency
