SUMMARY:From indicators to impact: measuring adaptation and resilience through the Belém Adaptation Indicators
DESCRIPTION:As countries advance climate adaptation implementation\, measuring progress and resilience outcomes is becoming essential for effective decision-making. This COP 31 side event will explore how the Belém Adaptation Indicators can help track adaptation progress under the Global Goal on Adaptation while minimizing reporting burdens and building on existing data systems. Through a fireside chat\, participants will share early country experiences\, examine lessons from the Sendai Framework and SDGs\, and discuss opportunities to align climate adaptation\, disaster risk reduction\, and sustainable development monitoring to strengthen resilience\, reduce risk\, and support evidence-based action. \nSpeakers\n\nAnimesh KumarHead\, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:Forests for climate: Peru’s progress and priorities towards 2030
DESCRIPTION:Peru’s tropical forests are central to its climate commitments\, contributing to both emissions reductions and climate resilience. This session will showcase Peru’s progress and priorities towards 2030\, highlighting advances in forest conservation\, Indigenous land tenure\, REDD+\, forest monitoring\, ecosystem restoration and Integrated Fire Management. Through a dialogue involving Indigenous representatives\, regional governments\, national institutions and international partners\, the session will explore how these complementary efforts are being translated into territorial action\, what challenges remain and how stronger coordination and technical cooperation can accelerate results for forests and the people who depend on them. \nSpeakers\n\nVladimiro Huaroc PortocarreroMinister of the Environment\, Peru (MINAM)\nLaura Secada DalyDirector General of Climate Change and Desertification (DGCCD)\, MINAM\nHarlem Mariño SaavedraDGCCD\, MINAM\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:All In at home and abroad: faith communities as subnational actors
DESCRIPTION:Faith bodies own hundreds of thousands of buildings across the United States. As congregations electrify\, install solar\, and cut energy use\, they are taking the subnational action we are calling for at COP31: practical\, local\, and already underway. Faith communities are also among the most widely distributed institutions in the world\, with networks that reach across borders\, and link local congregations to international partners in climate action. This session looks at both how communities cut emissions and how they prepare for and recover from the impacts already arriving with a focus on how the faith community is facilitating this. Speakers will include representatives from various faith communities (local & global)\, local practitioners\, and faith leaders including Bishops \nSpeakers\n\nBishop Phyllis SpiegelBishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah\nBishop Dave NaglerPacifica Synod\, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America\nSister Marvelous “Marvie” Lomerio MisolaMaryknoll Sisters\nLowell BlissChristian Climate Observers Program\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts

SUMMARY:From commitments to action: finance and partnerships for Peru’s tropical forests
DESCRIPTION:Delivering Peru’s forest-climate commitments requires more than mobilising finance: it requires connecting resources\, partnerships and national priorities with effective action in Amazonian territories. This session will showcase Peru’s country-led approach to forest finance\, highlighting its Country Package for Forests and Nature\, the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF)\, the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI)\, and Indigenous Jurisdictional REDD+. Bringing together government representatives\, Indigenous organisations and financing partners\, the discussion will explore how these complementary instruments can support territorial implementation\, address financing gaps and strengthen partnerships to deliver tangible results for forests and the people who protect them. \nSpeakers\n\nVladimiro Huaroc PortocarreroMinister of the Environment\, Peru (MINAM)\nLaura Secada DalyDirector General of Climate Change and Desertification (DGCCD)\, MINAM\nHarlem Mariño SaavedraDGCCD\, MINAM\nWillian Fernando León MoralesVice Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources\, MINAM\n\n\n\nCo-Hosts
