SUMMARY:Anticipating Tomorrow: Unlocking the Potential of Anticipatory Action Through Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the world is facing multiple and overlapping disasters\, straining the humanitarian field’s ability to respond and stretching resources to the brink. At the same time\, the commitment to Early Warnings for All and the investment in early warning systems has meant that partners can support vulnerable communities ahead of a disaster by taking action based on prediction (anticipatory action or AA). However\, in order to maximize the benefit of anticipatory action\, inter-sectoral and multi-stakeholder coordination and action is needed in order to ensure more effective\, localized and sustainable interventions. \nInterpretation available\nEnglish ↔︎ French (two-way) \nEnglish ↔︎ Spanish (two-way) \n\n \nCo-Hosts\n\nAmericares\nEducation cannot wait\nGround Truth Solutions\nICCCAD\nUN OCHA\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Advancing a Human-Rights Based Approach for Biodiversity and Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:High Level event \nThe Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF) recognize the importance of respecting\, protecting and fulfilling human rights with regard to biodiversity and climate action. A Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) ensures that policies\, governance and actions actively seek ways to support and promote human rights in their design\, implementation\, monitoring\, evaluation\, learning and funding. Adopting an HRBA for biodiversity and climate action involves identifying power dynamics\, intersectionality\, inequalities and discrimination\, while providing transparency and strong accountability. It seeks to ensure that actions\, policies and projects consider the potential impacts on different groups of people (right-holders) and ensure the effective enjoyment of human rights and a healthy environment for all. \nA HRBA is one of a strategic approach to address the complexities of biodiversity and climate challenges\, recognising that these challenges have disproportionate impacts on people living in vulnerable situations. This session aims to present the outcomes and findings of the dialogue process on the HRBA for biodiversity and climate action \n\n \nCo-Hosts\n\nSSN\nSwedbio\nSGI\nICCCAD

SUMMARY:For Their World\, For Our World – Bringing Children and Young People to the Heart of Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:High Level event \nMore than half the world’s children\, or approximately 1 billion children\, are already at an extremely high risk from the impacts of climate change. However\, to date\, only 2.4 percent of climate finance over the 17-year period to 2023 from key multilateral climate funds (MCFs) has been fully child responsive. \nUNICEF will take this opportunity at COP29 to call for the need to scale up climate finance for child-critical social services. Key contributors will include leadership representatives of MCFs\, prominent international development organizations\, developing country ministerial level representative and a voice of youth. \nThe lead contributors will explore the urgent need to design and implement new projects that support countries to enhance climate-smart education\, health\, child protection\, WASH\, and social protection systems. Key investment opportunities include climate resilient infrastructure\, early warning systems\, solar power\, boreholes and water pumps\, sanitation facilities\, anticipatory cash transfer schemes\, and youth accelerators. \nThe event will facilitate the engagement of young people with key climate finance stakeholders on advancing climate action for children. \n\n \nCo-Hosts\n\nUnicef\nGCF
