Each year, the world is facing multiple and overlapping disasters, straining the humanitarian field’s ability to respond and stretching resources to the brink. At the same time, the commitment to Early Warnings for All and the investment in early warning systems has meant that partners can support vulnerable communities ahead of a disaster by taking action based on prediction (anticipatory action or AA). However, in order to maximize the benefit of anticipatory action, inter-sectoral and multi-stakeholder coordination and action is needed in order to ensure more effective, localized and sustainable interventions.
