This event is designed to showcase the achievements of REDD+ in Peru in favor of forest conservation and the well-being of indigenous peoples and local populations. REDD+ is one of the priority strategies promoted by the Ministry of the Environment (Minam) to mitigate climate change, and its implementation contributes to the fulfilment of Peru’s international commitments to global climate action and the conservation of Amazonian forests.
In addition, the event will feature one of the most innovative programs in tropical forests, the Indigenous Jurisdictional REDD+ Program, which is being designed in coordination with organizations representing Amazonian indigenous peoples called the Peru Group of Indigenous Peoples.
