This session will examine how locally led initiatives can advance climate change adaptation, governance, and social justice, particularly in vulnerable communities. It will highlight practical approaches, such as empowering communities to lead decision-making, ensuring adaptation strategies are context-specific, gender-responsive, and culturally appropriate, and supporting farmers with new crop varieties and diversification opportunities. The session will also launch the Platform on Adaptation & Resilience, a multilateral initiative that connects local realities with regional coordination and global policy agendas. Designed as a hub for knowledge sharing, advocacy, and collective learning, the platform aims to amplify the voices of vulnerable individuals, foster accountability, and engage youth, negotiators, and civil society in shaping socially just adaptation policies.
