Resilience Science Must-Knows: A deep dive on tough questions to improve real answers

15 November @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm Brazil

Resilience strategies are multiplying, but coherence is not. Too many solutions remain siloed, fragmented, or unfit for long-term uncertainty. The challenge now is not just to scale activity, but to scale what enables systemic and forward looking resilience that is equitable for all: strategies that are inclusive, adaptive, and built for addressing complex challenges. This session asks what it would really take to shift from narrative to nuance—and from concept to capacities—using a solid evidence base synthesized by the Resilience Science Must-Knows, launched at COP30. Specifically, the session will deep dive in three common Myths and three of the nine Must-Knows on Resilience: 1. Resilience investments pay off; 2. Resilience is not an end goal but a continuous process and 3. Addressing power imbalances is imperative for resilience. The session will have a mix panel of scientists and implementers, business leaders, community leaders and multilateral organizations. Following short presentations from the report authors, the panel discussion will explore how these insights guide governance, decision-making, and transformation and be translated into action.
